Naguabo Aquaculture Center

Our partners, Conservación ConCiencia and the Naguabo Fishing Association, are instrumental to the success of the island's first community-led conch hatchery for restoration. This project is funded by SK NOAA. In addition to the Center, we are in the process of establishing two mobile queen conch labs in other fishing communities on the island.
Grand Bahama Queen Conch Mariculture Center
Grand Bahama, The Bahamas
We are partnering with Blue Action Lab, a Grand Bahamian blue/green accelerator, to unite with the community and its local NGOs to pilot-test queen conch aquaculture for restoration, sustainable seafood, and pearl culture. Funded by Builders Initiative.
Jamaica Queen Conch Mobile Lab
Discovery Bay, Jamaica
We have established a Queen Conch Mobile Lab (hatchery) for restoration at the University of the West Indies’ Discovery Bay Marine Lab. This project is in partnership with the local NGO, Jamaica Conch Restoration Project.
Curaçao Queen Conch Hatchery
Willemstad, Curaçao
The Curaçao Sea Aquarium Queen Conch Hatchery was established in 2020 under the scientific advising of Dr. Davis and the FAU Queen Conch Lab. We have an ongoing relationship with this project.
Bonaire Queen Conch Acclimation Site
Bonaire, Caribbean Netherlands
The Queen Conch Hatchery at the Curaçao Sea Aquarium supplies the juvenile, farmed conch for the Bonaireian fishing community to introduce into Lac Bay for restoration.
Cape Eleuthera Queen Conch Conservancy
Eleuthera, The Bahamas
This partnership with The Island School’s Cape Eleuthera Institute will establish a community-based queen conch aquaculture facility for conservation and restoration.
Bahamas National Trust Mobile Lab
Great Exuma, The Bahamas
BNT contracted FAU Harbor Branch to build a Mobile Lab for the purpose of expanding capacity to grow metamorphosed and early juvenile queen conch for restoration into the seagrass habitats of Moriah Harbour Cay National Park.
